PepZinGI®

Digestive Health, Antioxidant

PepZinGI® is NutriScience’s specialized zinc-carnosine complex designed to support gastrointestinal health. PepZinGI® has been extensively studied for its role in promoting the support of the mucosal lining of the stomach. It is unique in its combination of zinc and L-carnosine, which work together to help manage oxidative stress, protect the gastrointestinal lining, and promote overall gut integrity.

This innovative ingredient addresses a vital and more recently recognized aspect of digestive health, the integrity and function of the mucosal lining, which plays a key role in regulating gut permeability (leaky gut) and supporting optimal digestive function. PepZinGI® is highly effective in alleviating various gastric discomforts such as heartburn and ulcers, ensuring overall gut health. PepZinGI® is ideal for supporting the stomach lining against stress from medications, such as NSAIDs and it has been clinically shown to improve gut permeability. Additionally, PepZinGI® is backed by NutriScience’s commitment to quality, exceptional technical support, and customer service.

Mechanism of Action

PepZinGI® (Zinc-carnosine) protects the gastrointestinal mucosal lining primarily by adhering to the damaged areas, where it forms a protective barrier. This complex slowly releases zinc and L-carnosine directly at the site, allowing for sustained healing. Zinc supports tissue repair and cell regeneration, promoting the production of mucin, a protective glycoprotein that coats the stomach lining. Additionally, both zinc and L-carnosine individually demonstrate antioxidant properties, reducing oxidative stress and preventing further inflammation and damage to the mucosal cells.

The complex also enhances gut barrier function by strengthening tight junctions between intestinal cells, reducing gut permeability and preventing “leaky gut.” PepZinGI® has anti-inflammatory effects, modulating cytokine activity to lower inflammation, and inhibits the growth of Helicobacter pylori, a bacterium linked to gastric ulcers. This dual action of mucosal protection and inflammation reduction makes zinc-carnosine an effective treatment for not only ulcers, but also general gut health.
