SunCran®: The superfood against urinary tract infections!

Cranberries have long been cherished for their nutritional and medicinal properties. Today, cranberry products are most frequently used to help manage symptoms of Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs). It is estimated that >50% of women will get a UTI in their lifetime, with over 8 million having at least one every year.

SunCran® contains only the soluble proanthocyanidins (PACs) that can bind to pathogenic bacteria associated with urinary tract infections, including E. coli, resulting in an anti-adhesion effect in the bladder. It has also been shown to reduce bacteria from infecting cells in the gut (anti-invasion effect). Cranberries are also an excellent source of antioxidants and polyphenols.

Sunfiber®, a prebiotic dietary fiber having more than 120 clinical trials showing efficacy for a variety of benefits including gut health, has been shown to improve the gut microbiome, which is the source of bacteria that can lead to UTIs.

This synergistic effect of soluble PACs together with Sunfiber® offers both an improved gut microbiome and an anti-adhesion effect in the urine making SunCran® an excellent choice for addressing UTIs via everyday foods, beverages and supplements.

Clinical & Scientific Studies

• SunCran® contains soluble A-type linkages of Proanthocyanidins (PACs) that can bind to pathogenic bacteria associated with UTIs, including E. coli, resulting in an anti-adhesion effect in the bladder. It has also been shown to reduce bacteria from infecting cells in the gut (anti-invasion effect). Note that most cranberry extracts contain insoluble PACs which only bind to cell wall components of the cranberry and do not prevent bacterial adhesion.
• SunCran® contains Organic Sunfiber®, a prebiotic dietary fiber having more than 120 clinical trials showing efficacy for a variety of benefits including gut health. SunCran® has been shown to improve the gut microbiome, which is the source of bacteria that can lead to UTIs.
• Soluble PACs together with Sunfiber® offer the synergistic effect of both an improved gut microbiome and an anti-adhesion effect in the bladder and in the urine.
• An in-vitro adhesion study on SunCran® conducted at Rutgers University showed that SunCran® adheres to E. coli bacteria and produces an agglutination reaction. Soluble PACs prevented E. coli from adhering to epithelial cells, therefore allowing bacteria to be flushed out of the tract.
• An in-vitro, anti-invasion study at the University of Wisconsin-Madison demonstrated the ability of SunCran® to inhibit the ability of E. coli to invade Caco-2 human epithelial cells.
• A clinical study on 20 participants was conducted at Rutgers University. E. coli in the urine was measured for 3-24 hours following a single dose of 1g of SunCran®. 85% of the participants
(17/20) elicited a moderate positive anti-adhesion response with no side effects reported.

Claims:
