Mechanism of Action
The active ingredients in ButyraGen® are tributyrin, a butyrate generator, and partially hydrolyzed guar fiber, a short chain fatty acid generator. Tributyrin is broken down in the gut by enzymes to generate high levels of the postbiotic butyrate. Butyrate is then available in the lumen. Butyrate plays an important role in intestinal barrier function and gut health, while also modulating immune and inflammatory responses. Receptors for butyrate are present in most cells in the body. Butyrate is also critical for the effects of the gut system on other organs (e.g. gut-brain axis, gut-skin axis, etc.).

NEW STUDY – Cognitive Benefits
ButyraGen directly supports the gut-brain axis. In a 6-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study, ButyrGen promoted a better mental state and helps to reduce feelings of uneasiness and depression. Tangible outcomes includes greater mental clarity and greater willingness to engage in social activities. Results were more pronounced in men, who were 2x as likely to see reductions in anxious feelings, and results appeared as early as 2 weeks.
Digestive Benefits:
ButyraGen directly supports digestive health through the direct generation of butyrate. In a 6-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled study with nearly 600 participants, ButyraGen benefited botht the upper and lower GI, reducing belly pain, constipation, and reflux. ButyraGen is fast-acting, and Improvements were seen as early as week 1. These benefits were more pronounced in women, especially post-menopausal women., who saw greater improvements in belly pain, and a reduction in gas and bloating.
Preclinical Studies:
ButyraGen promotes the production of butyrate and other short chain fatty acids. Production can be enhanced when paired with probiotics such as LGG. A 200mg dose of ButyraGen has equivalent butyrate production to 1g XOS or 4g inulin but has significantly less gas production, resulting in better dietary tolerance.
