NutriScience’s SalidroPure™ is purified fermented salidroside. Salidroside is the most potent natural phytoactive compound found in rhodiola root. Rhodiola is a shrub which grows in high altitudes and has adaptogenic (stress relieving) properties. Rhodiola has been found to have multiple health benefits, including stress reduction as well as mitigation of physical stress caused by high altitudes.
Salidroside is a bioactive tyrosol glycoside which has been shown to be neuroprotective, an antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory, enhancing the body’s resistance to physical and mental stresses. Today, the rhodiola plant is considered an endangered species, so collection and trade in rhodiola is severely limited. Therefore, to ensure an adequate supply of this important traditional medicinal plant’s bioactive, precision fermentation provides a stable and sustainable solution.
SalidroPure™ is a biosynthetic replica of the salidroside found in rhodiola, produced through precision fermentation using genetically modified E. coli. Importantly, while the E. coli serves as the “factory” to produce salidroside, the final SalidroPure™ product that is unmodified salidroside entirely free of genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
SalidroPure™ is exclusively supplied by NutriScience Innovations, LLC and was developed by NutriScience Innovation’s partner, NNB Nutrition, as a sustainable alternative to farmed and wild harvested rhodiola.

Mechanism of Action
The stress-protective activity of adaptogens has been found to be associated with regulation of homeostasis via several mechanisms of action, linked with the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and the regulation of key mediators of stress response, which include the modulation of gene and protein expression, including TNF-α, IL-2, IL-6, Bcl-2, and COX-2.
Scientific Studies
Salidroside is the primary phytoactive component in rhodiola roots, which have been traditionally used for their adaptogenic properties. Rhodiola/ salidroside has demonstrated antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective effects, and salidroside plays a crucial role in enhancing physical and mental performance, reducing fatigue, and improving overall well-being.
Salidroside stimulates mitochondrial biogenesis, supports cell function in the presence of low levels of oxygen or hypoxia, supports glucose uptake, reduces antibiotic-induced gut microbiota disturbance, and other health benefits.
Clinical studies on rhodiola show clinical benefits for fatigue reduction, exercise performance, stress reduction, and cognitive benefits. Dosages for these studies are equivalent to approximately 10-20 mg salidroside. An unpublished salidroside clinical study found 60 mg salidroside to be effective for enhancing oxygen uptake and improving mood.
Formulating with SalidroPure™
SalidroPure™ is a free-flowing powder that contains only pure salidroside >98% purity. It is a white, characteristically bitter, water soluble powder. SalidroPure™ is a dietary ingredient which can be formulated into capsules, tablets, softgels, gummies, lozenges. stickpacks, etc. Typical doses are 15 – 30 mg.
Regulatory
The safety of purified salidrosides made by precision fermentation has been studied in animals, with no genotoxicity and no adverse events observed, and a NOAEL of greater than 2000 mg/kg bw/d in rats (equivalent to 1,400 mg/day salidroside for human consumption with a 100x safety factor).
