NutriScience’s BenfoPure® is the premier form of benfotiamine, the fat-soluble version of vitamin B1 (thiamine). BenfoPure® provides additional health benefits beyond thiamine, specifically reducing the negative effects of high sugar intake and maintaining healthy blood sugar levels. BenfoPure® is 5x more absorbable than thiamine. The superior absorption, combined with supporting scientific evidence, makes BenfoPure® a truly versatile ingredient to include in healthy blood sugar control, PMS symptom management, and overall health and wellness products. It is the only fat-soluble vitamin B1 with self-affirmed GRAS regulatory status. Additionally, BenfoPure® is backed by NutriScience’s commitment to quality, exceptional technical support, and customer service.
BenfoPure® is produced by Hamari Chemicals. This product was formerly licensed to XSTO and is now exclusively licensed to NutriScience Innovations, LLC.

Mechanism of Action
Absorption
Although thiamine is a water-soluble vitamin, it is poorly absorbed It cannot pass freely across cell membranes and relies on thiamine transporters to enter the cell. Benfotiamine, on the other hand, being fat or lipid soluble, is dephosphorylated to S-benzoylthiamine by ecto-alkaline phosphatase enzymes in the small intestine. S-benzoylthiamine is lipophilic and passes easily through intestinal and endothelial cells S-benzoylthiamine then enters the cell where it is converted to thiamine by thioesterases. It can also enter the bloodstream where it can be converted to free thiamine. This results in a 3-5x increase in absorption.
Benfotiamine Mechanisms of Action
Many of the mechanistic pathways for benfotiamine have been elucidated from in-vitro and animal studies and cover glucose metabolism, anti- inflammatory and antioxidant effects, neuroprotection and other conditions related to glucose metabolism.
Scientific Studies
Although BenfoPure® benfotiamine is efficiently converted in the body to vitamin B1 thiamine, and therefore has all the health benefits of thiamine, the unique value proposition of BenfoPure® is in its ability to improve health and wellness functionality through its effect on other body systems. Scientific and clinical studies include:
- Healthy Blood Glucose Regulation
- Menstrual Pain and PMS
- Neuroprotective Benefits
- Alcohol Dependence
- Antioxidant Benefits
