Taurine is an amino sulfonic acid, but it is often referred to as an amino acid, a chemical that is a required building block of protein. Taurine is found in large amounts in the brain, retina, heart, and blood cells called platelets. Taurine is referred to as a “conditional amino acid”, which means it can be manufactured by the body.
Taurine can help increases muscle contractility, support exercising muscles eliminate lactic acid. Lactic acid is what causes the feelings of pain and soreness and is what limits how much a muscle can continue to work. By cleaning up lactic acid, Taurine helps muscles work longer. Taurine can help protect muscles from damage, which occurs during physical exertion.
